Congratulations to Mary Faraci on being awarded Professor Emeritus status!
Mary Faraci started at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø in 1972 and retired at the end of summer 2020—after a 47 year career of mentoring, teaching, scholarship, and service.
It would be impossible to put into words Mary's impact on thousands of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, hundreds of colleagues, and many, many friends at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. We've tried, though:
If any faculty member could be said to be an 51³Ô¹ÏÍø institution, it is Mary, who is rightfully beloved by generations of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and faculty members.
I could write a book on everything Mary Faraci means to me and to the English Department, the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, and 51³Ô¹ÏÍø as a whole. She has inspired and amused 51³Ô¹ÏÍø with her utterly unique blend of humor, insight, wisdom, and vision.
I am delighted, as I am sure everyone who knows Mary is, to have her as a member of our Emeritus faculty in English.
