51³Ô¹ÏÍø Presents 2017 Biennial Faculty Art Exhibition

The University Galleries at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø present the "2017 Biennial Faculty Art Exhibition" from Friday, Sept. 22 through Saturday, Oct. 14 in the Schmidt Center Gallery, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The exhibition will remain on view in the Ritter Art Gallery through Saturday, Nov. 4. An opening and reception also will take place on Friday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ritter Art Gallery. All programs are open and free to the public. Â
This exhibition features the work of more than 30 51³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty members who simultaneously continue their practice as professional artists. Participating artists include faculty from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Department of Visual Arts and Art History and the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies within the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters; the School of Architecture within the College for Design and Social Inquiry; the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Libraries. The exhibition presents a variety of media including drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, photography and digital media.Â
Many of the faculty artists have had solo and group exhibitions in local, national and international venues while others have works featured in major private and museum collections. Several past and recent South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship winners will be presenting work in this exhibition as well.
"The Biennial Faculty Art Exhibition is a great opportunity for the public to be introduced to the excellent visual artists working at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø while allowing 51³Ô¹ÏÍø to further engage with their professors who are naturally mentors' to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø art 51³Ô¹ÏÍø," said W. Rod Faulds, director of the University Galleries at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.
The University Galleries are open Tuesdays through Fridays, 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. The Galleries are available on off hours by appointment. The Schmidt Center Gallery is located in the Performing Arts building (No. 51) marked by a tall, white cubicle tower. Parking on the University campus is subject to strict regulations. Visitors should stop at the information booth on Glades Road and Northwest 10th Avenue to get a parking pass or park in metered spots.
           The "2017 Biennial Faculty Art Exhibition" is produced in collaboration with the Department of Visual Arts and Art History.
