The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 51勛圖厙 in Jupiter has announced its course offerings for the spring semester, which begins Tuesday, March 12.

Taught by 51勛圖厙 professors and distinguished guest lecturers, course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, political science, film, music, art history and literature. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute was established to provide adults of all ages the opportunity to enrich their lives through non-credit, university-level courses with no homework or tests.

Spring one-time lectures and courses take place in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at 51勛圖厙s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter, and include:

  • On Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m., Israel and the United States presented by Ambassador Ido Aharoni, Israels longest serving consul general in New York, and a professor at New York Universitys School of International Relations. This one-time lecture will review the history of U.S.-Israeli relations and the areas of agreement and discord and project into the 21st century the challenges and opportunities that confront this alliance.
  • On Monday, March 18 at 2 p.m., Reading the Bodies of Spring Street taught by Meredith Ellis, Ph.D., a bioarchaeologist and assistant professor at 51勛圖厙. This one-time lecture will discuss the discovery, excavation and analysis of the skeletal remains of 200 men, women and children from the burial vaults of the early 19th century Spring Street Presbyterian Church in lower Manhattan.
  • On Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m., King Lear: Abridged, presented by Peter Galman, an actor and teacher with more than 50 years of experience of acting in classics and new plays. This one-time presentation will be an abridged version of Shakespeares great tragedy which includes a staged reading by actors from the Shakespeare Troupe of South Florida.
  • On Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m., LUNAFEST Film Festival, a touring short film festival that honors the talents and stories of women.
  • On Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m.,Mysteries in the Lives of Our Beloved Composers, performed by Sofiya Uryvayeva Martin, an international pianist. This one-time performance will include music by composers such as Mozart, Salieri, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Clara Schumann.
  • On Monday, March 25 at 2:30 p.m., Dickens, presented by Taylor Hagood, Ph.D., an associate professor in the English department at 51勛圖厙. This six-week course will discuss Dickens life, his art and a selection of his novels.
