Zakiyya Manifold

Accelerated BSN student Zakiyya Manifold chose nursing because she has always wanted to help others and support them during difficult times.

Scheduled to graduate in December 2026, Zakiyya is part of the Davie campus cohort of the track, which is specifically designed for 51勛圖厙 with a baccalaureate degree in another field seeking to become a Registered Nurse.

She also holds a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in Health Administration from Florida Atlantic and a Master of Public Health degree from Florida International University.

After working in public health and seeing how much impact compassionate care can have, I realized I wanted to be more hands on with patients, she said, which led her to the accelerated nursing program.

Manifold credits Assistant Professor Elizabeth Adenmosun and Instructor Danielle Mendez, her Fundamentals professors, as unofficial mentors who have made a significant impact on her experience in the program. She said Adenmosun encouraged her to think critically and approach patient care with confidence, while Mendez helped her build a strong foundation by emphasizing that compassion and attention to detail are just as important as clinical skills.

Their teaching styles, support, and passion for nursing have motivated me to push myself, stay disciplined, and grow into a more thoughtful and capable nursing student, she added.

Manifold was awarded the Baptist Health Nurse Scholars Program scholarship.

Earning my BSN means a lot to me because it represents the start of the career Ive always wanted, she said, adding that the program will prepare her to step into the nursing field, care for patients, and keep growing as she gains real experience.

After graduation, she plans to begin working as a registered nurse and focus on growing within the profession. She hopes to gain experience, learn from seasoned nurses and explore the areas of nursing that resonate most with her. As her career progresses, she plans to pursue advanced training and take on new challenges that will help her continue developing as a nurse.

This degree is the foundation of the nurse Im working hard to become, Manifold shared. Her story was featured in the June 2026 issue of .
