51³Ô¹ÏÍø's six campuses showcase 110 coastal miles of diverse South Florida at its best. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø was founded in 1961, in Boca Raton on an 850-acre site located near the Atlantic Ocean. The Boca Raton Campus is conveniently located halfway between Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale and offers a broad range of academic programs, activities, and services. The Boca Raton campus is home to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Division I Intercollegiate Athletics program and facilities. The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Davie Campus has served 51³Ô¹ÏÍø 51³Ô¹ÏÍø since 1990 working in close partnership with Broward College and other educational institutions. The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Davie Campus creates a supportive learning environment with particular sensitivity to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø of nontraditional ages and culturally diverse backgrounds. It also hosts the base of operations for 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Everglades research and restoration efforts. Located in Jupiter's Abacoa community, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's John D. MacArthur Campus opened in the fall of 1999. The campus presently enrolls more than 1,300 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and offers a wide variety of upper-division and graduate courses from five of the University's ten colleges. The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, a four-year residential liberal arts and sciences college for high achieving undergraduates, is located here. The campus is also the site of research facilities for both the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, the Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute and Max Planck Florida Institutes. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is located in Fort Pierce on the Atlantic Coast. As one of the nation's premier oceanographic centers, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Harbor Branch's research community of approximately 200 ocean scientists, staff and 51³Ô¹ÏÍø drives innovation in: marine science and engineering; conservation of coral reefs, studies of marine mammals and fisheries; marine drug discovery; estuarine and coastal ecology and observation; ocean dynamics and modeling; aquaculture and marine science education.
