About I-SENSE

The Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering (I-SENSE) was established in early 2015 to coordinate university-wide activities in the Sensing and Smart Systems pillar of 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Strategic Plan for the Race to Excellence.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø is positioned to capitalize on emerging sensing, communication, and data analytics technologies to embark on a new trajectory of excellence in the institution’s research, education, and public service missions. These technologies can enable incredible opportunities for exploration and discovery that leverage 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s unique regional resources across six campuses, 10 colleges, and numerous research programs.

I-SENSE was established to foster the realization of these opportunities by providing two core services to the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø community. First, the institute serves as a technology clearinghouse for sensing, communication, and data management technologies, providing relevant expertise and engineering support. Second, the institute serves as an interdisciplinary hub, cultivating research, education, and service initiatives that cut across academic units; and provides the administrative support necessary to sustain those initiatives.

The I-SENSE mission is to catalyze exploration and discovery at the confluence of sensing, smart systems, and critical application areas to support 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s aspiration of becoming the country’s next top-tier research university.
