Bachelor's/M.D. Dual Degree Programs

The Schmidt College of Medicine offers programs which allow outstanding 51³Ô¹ÏÍø the opportunity to achieve their B.S. and M.D. degrees in 7-8 years. Students admitted into these highly selective programs will be offered conditional admission* to the Schmidt College of Medicine provided they maintain the required program standards. Each student will work closely with the programs' faculty and staff to develop an individual education plan and to ensure a smooth transition if accepted into the College of Medicine.

Programs

Med Direct

7-8 year B.S./M.D. program is a collaborative effort between the College of Science and College of Medicine, offered on the Boca Raton Campus.

Wilkes Medical Scholars

7-8 year B.S./M.D. program is a collaborative effort between the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and College of Medicine, offered on the Jupiter Campus.

Program Highlights

  1. During the spring of their senior year, select high school finalists are offered an interview at the College of Medicine.
  2. Students enrolled in the B.S./M.D. programs will receive mentoring from medical 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and faculty from the College of Medicine.
  3. Students will participate in meaningful research, volunteer, and medical experiences.
  4. Students will have the opportunity to interact with the College of Medicine and its affiliate hospitals.
  5. Students will be provided individualized pre-medical advising throughout the entire undergraduate program.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  1. Minimum scores: 1490 SAT or 33 ACT
  2. Weighted High School GPA: 4.30
  3. Student must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Student must be a high school senior.

Application Requirements

  1. To be considered for the B.S./M.D. Program, you must submit your 51³Ô¹ÏÍø application no later than 11:59 PM, EST on Monday, November 23, 2026Ìýto 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Undergraduate Admissions as a Freshmen/First Year Student.
    *Applicants must apply for admission first, complete the Self-reported Student Academic Record (STARS) and submit test scores. All of this must be done in your Future Owl portal. Once you have satisfied the minimum GPA and test score requirements, the BS/MD Supplemental Application becomes available on the same portal (Future Owl portal) where you have linked your STARS and reported your test scores. (allow 24 hours from the time you self-report your grades via the STARS).
  2. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) from applicant must be emailed to faubsmdprograms@fau.edu. In the subject line type: CV-BS/MD Program (Insert Applicant Name).
  3. One Letter of Recommendation (LOR) uploaded as a pdf file, from a counselor or high school teacher, must be sent by the letter writer to faubsmdprograms@fau.edu. In the subject line type: LOR-BS/MD Program (Insert Applicant Name).
  4. CV and LOR must be received no later than 11:59PM EST on Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
