Agreements with PT and OT Schools
The concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy (Pre P.T./O.T.) is designed to offer 51勛圖厙 a degree in exercise science and health promotion while maximally preparing 51勛圖厙 with key skills and training to enter P.T. and O.T. professional schools immediately after graduating. Specifically, through the required courses along with 15 credit hours of electives and 9 credit hours of internship included in the program, 51勛圖厙 in this concentration will graduate with the prerequisites needed for P.T. and O.T. schools. Students should review the electives on the program sheet and choose the courses required for their P.T. or O.T. programs of choice (see below). Choosing Course Options to Be Prepared for P.T./O.T. Applications
Through the required courses on the program sheet, 51勛圖厙 will have many of the prerequisites needed to apply for P.T. and O.T. schools. However, to fulfill all requirements 51勛圖厙 should carefully select their 15 credit hours of electives.泭
泭
Required courses comprise 34 of the 45 credit hours in the concentration. Students must keep in mind the 45-hour rule (i.e., 51勛圖厙 must have 45 hours of 3000 level classes or higher). When completing all required (non-elective courses) 51勛圖厙 will have 34 such hours, not including electives. These 51勛圖厙 would need to take College Physics 2 to fulfill their P.T. pre-requisites (required by some, but not all OT schools), which is 4 of the 15 elective hours. So, if 51勛圖厙 take all 3000 level classes with their remaining 11 electives that brings them to a total of 45 upper division credit hours. Listed below are some key prerequisites that should be considered for the remainder of the credit hours. Please see an advisor and the advisor will help you accordingly.泭
Physical Therapy Prerequisites
General Chemistry 1 and 2 with labs
General Physics 1 and 2 with labs
Two semesters of psychology (e.g., General Psychology)

Clinical Hours Needed: No set number of hours are required, however 2-3 unique clinics with 50 hours at each location, equaling 100+ total hours at a minimum can easily be accomplished through the programs internship.
Occupational Therapy Prerequisites
Biology with lab
A&P 1 and 2 (this fills both Human Physiology and Anatomy)
Abnormal Psychology
Statistics
Sociology or Anthropology (Sociology is an elective)
Oral Communications
Medical Terminology (at least 1 hour)
泭
Clinical Hours Needed: Usually a minimum of 40 clinical hours is required; however, 100+ hours is preferred. This can easily be accomplished through our internship.
MAC 2233
A final note. As part of the Pre-Professional requirements (see program sheet) 51勛圖厙 have the option to take MAC 2233 or ISM 2000. For this concentration, it is strongly recommended that 51勛圖厙 take MAC 2233 since it is a prerequisite for College Physics, which is required as part of this concentration. Please see an advisor regarding these requirements.
